Our best wishes for Christmas



We want to wish a Merry Christmas and all the best for the year 2010 to all supporters and visitors of "A forgotten promise"! In January we will start to prepare the next exhibition and we will continue with fundraising for the people living in the camps of Osterode and Cesmin Lug in North Mitrovica, Kosovo. Now in winter the living conditions are extremely hard, the huts have no heating and it gets very cold...

In the next weeks we will show all the pictures from our exhibition on this blog and today we will start with the most heart-breaking story I heard during my visit in Cesmin Lug: Lindita´s son Denis suffered from severe lead pollution, he had a disfunction of his kidneys and soon his family members noticed the incrementing symptoms of a schizophrenic depression. One day, he was yet very ill, he went out to play with his friends on the shore of the Ibar river, near Cesmin Lug. Because of his illness he always felt hungry and while they were playing in the muddy gras at the river bank, he saw a fish in the water and drowned after he tried to catch it. His mother does not return to the place by the river, she feels guilty, says that it was her duty as a his mother to take care of him and is convinced that the spirit of her son Denis is haunting the banks of the Ibar...
